How to Choose Curtain Width for Grommet Curtains

Choose grommet curtain width that leaves enough fabric for smooth folds and easy movement on the rod.

Grommet curtains slide directly over the rod and naturally form wide, even folds. They usually look best when there is enough extra fabric for the folds to stay visible when closed.

Best Starting Width

• Use about 2 times the window width for standard grommet curtains.
• Use 2.5 times the width for a fuller look.
• Avoid sizing grommet panels exactly to the window width.

Rod Fit

Make sure the rod diameter fits through the grommets and that the rod is wide enough for the panels to stack outside the glass.
