How High to Hang Curtain Rods

Rod height changes both the look of the window and the curtain length you need. Hanging the rod a little above the frame often makes the window feel taller and gives the fabric more room to stack.

Common Rod Height

• A simple starting point is 4 to 6 inches above the window frame.
• For taller ceilings, the rod can sit higher if the panel length supports it.
• Keep enough clearance for rings, grommets, or pleats.
